Originally slated as a release party for the long-anticipated Rosy Maze, the album's delay until next spring rendered this less of an occasion but still served to welcome Chris Cummings back from a European tour. Besides playing with his usual trio (Jay Anderson plus fill-in bassist Andy Scott), much of the set saw him accompanied by a choir (Felicity Williams, Robin Dann, Thom Gill and Ben Gunning) that embroidered the songs with Williams' vocal arrangements. Followers of the project are familiar enough with most of these songs by now that the unreleased album feels like an absent friend, but that doesn't mean that it won't be a noteworthy occasion when its release finally comes around.
