A doubly-worthy double header at this Somewhere There gig. Saxophonist Paul Newman will be celebrating his birthday by sharing his music while Weinroth-Browne and Jamshidi will be reprising a duo that first came together at Audiopollination a few months ago. That meeting of cello and kamanche (an Iranian bowed spike fiddle) was a total delight that created some beautiful music, and was one of my favourite improvised sets of the year.
