Michelle Breslin closed out the celebration of her new solo album with a group effort, inviting some members of Ghostlight as well as some of the evening's other participants to join together for a bit of abstract drift-noise. The ad hoc ensemble included Vassilios Alexiou (synth), Dave Rodgers (ipad), Chris Youknowwho (guitar), Soren Brothers (voice, electronics), and Heraclitus Akimbo (electronics).

Soren Brothers, curator of the Ur Audiovisual label, as well as purveyor of his own music, has been quiet lately in those realms, with other parts of life being busy. That made this night a chance to get back on stage and share some new songs, in a thoughtfully-constructed set following some of the wildlife and human affairs entwined with the Don River. Alternating readings and songs, the latter saw Brothers pushing in some new directions, with his Nick Drake fingerpicked folk stylings augmented by a throat mic run through some effects, suggesting forests and rivers pushing back against any unnatural constraints trying to contain them.

Soren Brothers (who runs the fab ur audio visual label) and and Guelph's M. Mucci have been off-and-on collaborators for quite some time, as evidenced by the description on their joint tape as Ecotone that the pieces were crafted over a six-year period dating back to 2016. Guitar ambience accented by microloop textures, there's a sense of lansdcape in their work, and of changes taking place on a geologic timescale. Even as some fussy cables forced Mucci to re-wire and strip back on the spot, this set found space to drift, like smoke rising toward a full moon in the sky.

This night celebrated not only the year's passing but also some recent releases on Ur Audiovisual (including Melissa Boraski's Eiyn Sof side-project The Hologlyph, who shared a new video and some projections on the night). Casual hangs, a pot-luck and four sets of music made for a satisfying night.

The night closed with a rare opportunity to see long-distance collaborators Roan Bateman (who had played a Dark Bird set earlier in the night) and Soren Brothers (who had just performed as Man Meets Bear) working together in the same room. There are some more smoothly-assembled sounds on their recent Strange Currents EP (which comes complete with some excellent 70's sci-fi novel-esque cover art) but there was a nice sense of interaction between the pair as they brought the night to its drifting conclusion.

This night celebrated not only the year's passing but also some recent releases on Ur Audiovisual (including Melissa Boraski's Eiyn Sof side-project The Hologlyph, who shared a new video and some projections on the night). Casual hangs, a pot-luck and four sets of music made for a satisfying night.

Expatriated Ur Audiovisual co-founder Soren Brothers took advantage of being in town to play a couple sets at this show, starting with some solo songs as Man Meets Bear. In his recordings, his folk-y rambles are given various atmospheric adornments, and there were some scaled-down takes on that here, with a contact mic adding some ghost vocalizations and piano sounds.
