Gambletron - [excerpt]

Handlebar's Bedroom Sessions series is a space offering "experimental/side projects from celebrated Toronto (and beyond) musicians". Montréal's Gambletron continues to explore the infinitely-malleable possibilities of radio waves. When I saw her at last summer's Camp Wavelength she had a boombox flotilla that she was attempting to keep afloat in the lake off the Gibraltar Point beach; here, her stack of a dozen radios were safe and dry, and built into a wall to broadcast out into the audience, with one antenna being manipulated theremin-style. After that, there'd be waves of mushy beats, distorted phoneme-fragments from her mouth-mic and other shredded sonics that would emerge into the ghostly haze of some forgotten pop tune.

Handlebar's Bedroom Sessions series is a space offering "experimental/side projects from celebrated Toronto (and beyond) musicians". Jess Forrest was working in the same drone terrain she had explored at Track Could Bend, starting with a meticulous and patient build before making some wobbly investigations on the manipulations of sine waves.

Bonus! Here's some video footage from the earlier part of the set:

roljui - [last segment]

Handlebar's Bedroom Sessions series is a space offering "experimental/side projects from celebrated Toronto (and beyond) musicians". This night lead off with a set from Dean Williams' solo project, featuring a modular box with a rainbow of patchcords and other sundry electronics. Ranging from noodly montages to more beat-driven stuff, this comedown section of the set had some tasty ideas, including some deep bass that caused some interesting rumblings.
