Matt Robidoux - [unknown song]

Alongside Karen Ng from Somewhere There, I had the opportunity to help put together a night for some new out-of-town pals. Matt Robidoux, out of Greenfield, Massachusetts, crated a fairly delightful environment on the stage, not only setting up a miniature circus tent (that he would later crawl inside for one particularly quiet, intimate song) but also suspending his guitar in mid air to thwack away at it and adding the percussive shake of a metal measuring tape at one point — but there were also some more melodic moments emerging the ringing, crunching noise sections.

YlangYlang feat. Matt Robidoux - New Language

Alongside Karen Ng from Somewhere There, I had the opportunity to help put together a night for some new out-of-town pals. This show came with a surprise bonus: when Catherine Debard came down from Montréal with the headliners, it was quickly agreed on all sides that she had to get up on stage for a quick set. Playing three stretched-out drone-pop songs, her set segued right into Matt Robidoux's, so the end of this one mixes her electronic sounds with Robidoux's full-contact extended-technique guitar noise.
