Taking another Departure from St. George The Martyr, the Music Gallery landed at Ratio's cozy space for this trio of solo sets. Leading off the night, Germaine Liu brought a varied set of pieces for percussion which were united by a playful (and somewhat interactive) spirit. Moving from the quiet textures of two mugs being ground together, several of the pieces included an almost child-like inquisitiveness, including this one with a bow and cymbal in play, and another which employed a handful of marbles being rolled around a drumhead, which would eventually be thwacked upon until all of the marbles were scattered across the floor.
