Some excellent work here from Kat Burns (formerly of beloved local combo Forest City Lovers, and recently working solo as KASHKA) who tried something for the first time on stage, applying her deep stock of popcraft and technique to build up some songs in real-time. Working with a loop pedal, there were some moments of real vulnerability on stage as she started stitching fragments together, but once the layers were assembled, it was pop sleekness all the way. "Experimental music" means many things, but one of the most fundamental ones is doing something where you're not entirely sure of the outcome — and here, the results were quite excellent.
