Cetacea - [last piece, edit]A set by Bryan W. Bray's solo instrumental Cetacea project can be a fairly variable thing under normal circumstances, ranging from quiet atmospherics to bone-shaking doom-drones. But Bray totally got into the spirit of TCB as a space where artists can try something that they don't normally do, and he brought not only a collaborator (Cares' James Beardmore) but also some lyrics. Beardmore provided icy textures with theremin and synth (plenty static and white noise) while the lyrics were kept relatively subdued, more suggestive of a mood than precise sentiments. This all combined into a something fairly unique, a distorted confessional akin to some unholy meeting between Jandek and Corpusse. The pair had worked out a full set worth of stuff, so this might not be a one-time airing of this material.
