The nimble 416 Festival — celebrating, as always, multiple streams of improvised and experimental music — folded itself down to two nights this year, of which I could only make it to the second. Nominally a solo set for alto saxophone, like many quieter excursions at the Tranzac this is something of an an environmental duet with the sounds bleeding over from the other rooms. Milmine did explore a wide dynamic range and a variety of extended techniques in a focused set that had an admirably-clear throughline.
