Sandro Perri has a lot of musical friends ready to join him on stage, so it was no surprise to see that this festival appearance saw him with a five-piece backing band (Drew Smith, acoustic guit; Mike Smith, bass; Blake Howard, percussion; Ryan Driver, flute/melodica/backing vox; Lina Allemano, trumpet) capable of producing some slickly-luscious, laid-back tones. There was a whole lotta new material in the set including a couple instrumentals and the appropriate-for-the-day "Wrong About The Rain". The tunes were gorgeously languid and never in any hurry — contemporary soul to sooth the citydweller's worries.
