This show is worth going to on its own merits to see some local master musicians at work, but it's also for a good cause, raising funds for the inaugural season of the Labyrinth Musical Workshop, a new initiative spearheaded by Araz Salek and Jonathan Adjemian to promote "the study and appreciation of modal music traditions of Asia, Africa, and Europe." Community corner:
- Christopher Willes and Adam Kinner are mounting an upgraded version of their Listening Choir this week in the West Don Lands. It's an excellent way not only of forging a relationship with a space, but also of becoming a better conscious listener. The memories of the earlier walk I took part in have really stuck with me, so I can wholeheartedly recommend this. The event is free, but an RSVP is required — all the info you need is here.
