Artist: Queen of Swords
Song: Ambivalence
Recorded at The Gladstone Hotel's Ballroom (Long Winter 5.2), January 6, 2017.
Queen of Swords - AmbivalenceThis project name didn't mean anything to me, but it turned out there was a familiar face behind the veil. I'd seen vocalist Aerin Fogel with The Bitters a few years back but that doesn't give too much of a hint of her current direction. Currently playing guitar and vocals over backing tracks, she was a bit more technologically constrained on stage than she used to be — though the music was definitely more restrained as well and showing off a more richly-expressive vocal delivery. There's a few demo recordings on her bandcamp as well as the promise of a Bobb Bruno-produced album on its way.
[You can also see some video over on Brandon Caswell Douglas' playlist from the night.]
[Long Winter continues this Saturday (February 4th) with the action moving to The Theatre Centre, featuring music by Devon Welsh, Off World, Saidah Conrad, Germaphobes, L CON, Ivy Mairi, FIN, Young Clancy, Roberto and Vibrant Matter.]
