This year's Somewhere There Festival was a success on all levels — artistically, organizationally and in terms of having the event's best-ever crowds. Closing things out, Ken Aldcroft's Henry Threadgill-inspired quintet now has a half-dozen occasionally-digressive tunes in its arsenal. In each of them, the music shifts and side-steps as the players exchange hand signals and sidelong glances, sending things off on their winding way.
