After the fanfare of launching her new album, this casual excursion felt somewhat atavistic — and that feeling was heightened when the trio (Craig on vox and guitar plus Colin Fisher on sax and Josh Cole on bass) launched the set with this trip back to her first album. Songcraft was less the focus here than settling into an unrushed, simmering groove, stretching out the songs with sax solos and some ace e-bow work. This sits well as an alternate pathway into Craig's songbook from her current band format and would be well-suited for further excursions on the back porch or lakeside dock of your choice.
