The Jim Storie Juniors - Webbed FeetFull review to follow. After fourteen years of booking and MC-ing Sunday night shows, Duncan "Doc Pickles" MacDonell has decided to step back and focus on his own musical projects. The Jim Storie Juniors might not bear his name, but the music is infused with his DNA, galumphing through songs like a Guided By Voices drunk only (mostly) on their own enthusiasm. The full-on commitment — we're doing this, we love it, why aren't you doing what you love? — always makes the band a sheer delight to behold.
And now, come Sunday night, non-euclidean geometry will not be mused upon, mayors will not be evaluated, FACTOR grants will go uncriticized. But somewhere, somewhere, somebody is putting together a show so they can hear the bands they want to hear. It might not sound perfect and the whole show might go awry, but if there's someone there digging it, it's all right. Don't forget to tip your bartender, folks, and hug your host.
A single tear escapes as I listen to this
