Celebrating the release of her solo saxophone tape, Karen Ng brought along a couple parties-of-one exploring different forms of sole practitioning. Percussionist Phil Melanson's sonic explorations have been getting rather quiet lately, so it was interesting to see another approach entirely here, using drums as contact mic'd resonators and recording devices as objets concrètes with the thrum of live and reproduced clatter-sounds feeding back into hazy howls.
