Artist: Isla Craig
Song: Serenade [Steve Miller Band cover]
Recorded at Dundas Video (Track Could Bend #18), September 6, 2016.
Isla Craig - SerenadeTCB's experimental quest is fully ecumenical, so when Isla Craig mentioned her solo set was going to be all classic rock covers, I wasn't too worried. There'd been more e-bow in her guitar work lately, and this was a chance to stretch out with that. (And anyway, I probably don't fully trust anyone who thinks that Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits 1974–78 isn't sweet, sweet stuff.) "Jet Airliner" gave Craig a chance to try out her stance as sunglasses-on-stage wearing guitar hero, but this "Serenade" sounds less like a bacchanal and more like a mystic rite — and this could easily slip right into one of her "regular" sets.
[The next Track Could Bend is coming up on Tuesday (October 4th) and will feature CHOBO with Strings, Goosey (The Holy Gasp's Benjamin Hackman and Karen Ng), and INCHOATE.]
