Full review to follow. It's satisfying when something that looks good on paper translates into real-world success. Mixing Danijel and Brandon (formerly of sludgebeasts Holy Mount) with Clayton Churcher, drummer from Anagram/Surinam takes Holy Mount's syrupy dynamics and adds a rhythmic charge to the proceedings. Entirely tasty, this new unit (which just has one bandcamp track as an online presence at the moment) has really hit the ground running.

Crosswires, meanwhile, has now started its third year of programming musical strays and orphans. The musical brainchild of Wavelength ex-MC Doc Pickles, this is a good spot for some under-the-radar music exploration, and takes place every other Sunday at the comfy Handlebar in Kensington Market. It also starts early/ends early, important for anyone who wants to live a little on Sunday night but still be able to get up for work on Monday.
