Stephen Lyons - unknown

A rare opportunity for Track Could Bend to play host to a visiting musician — Vancouverite Stephen Lyons, probably best known for his work with Drip Audio all-stars Fond of Tigers, happened to be in town after the long weekend and in true TCB style had a chance to try something a bit off to the side from his usual practice. In this case, that meant a set of solo song-styles, something that has been on the backburner for Lyons lately. Still employing a lot of deft textures (such as the scrunchy prepared guitar loop that pops up from time to time in this one) the three pieces each stretched out and built their own soundworlds to contain the songs — Sandro Perri's longform pop-pieces like "Wolfman" come to mind as a peer following a parallel path. This song in particular tells the story of "an old haunted venue and the traces of the various ghosts that inhabit it" – an atmosphere that was enhanced when, as if on cue, some mysterious scrapes and rumbles started up overhead just as the song was getting started.
