Lots of great gigs this week, but the placing of these two events on consecutive nights — a rough jumble of our city's musical past and present — makes it irresistible to highlight them. The City's In Flame! is an "exciting program of archival gems and rarely seen work explores a mix of music and queer themes, drawing some kind of through-line that began in the gay roots of art/punk rock and burst outward from there. Curated by musician/photographer Don Pyle." Untold Noise, meanwhile, is here-and now and explores "Toronto's noise punk community and the city’s place within the music industry as an emerging mecca of creativity and art." (It's also accompanied by T.O. Video King Colin Medley's This Is Here Now, a trip to Sackville's Stereophonic Festival.) Witness/document/celebrate!
