Fleshtone Aura & Mandelbrut - [excerpt]Full review to follow. Joined by Luis Hernandez (a.k.a. Mandelbrut), this set had a bit less of a performance art/theatrical edge than Andrew Zukerman brings to his Fleshtone Aura sets. In its place was a sonic clash that set two streams of tape loops, junk instruments and found-sound bricolage bouncing off each other, generating patches of noise and pools of silence. Glad to see this in the festival as a reminder that "DIY noise rock" and "creative electroacoustic improvisation" aren't so far apart.
