An unusually poppy set for TCB, but experimentation takes on many forms, and here three members of Ukrainian electro-pop ensemble DoVira were doing some work on figuring out how to present music in this stripped-back/wired-up trio format. Stacey Yerofeyeva (vox) and Mike Romaniak (synths/beats/electronics) were joined by familiar face Patrick O'Reilly, playing an SK-1 instead of guitar, but still wrangling sounds through some of his pedals (this track features the Casio's distinctive human voice setting being mulched by some of them). Yerofeyeva, who also sings with the pan-Eastern European polyphony group Blisk, found this melody in a field recording of a traditional song about madness and dark magic, reinterpreting it here in English with a modern digital sheen.
