Concert Listings Roundup #302

You can read more about why I'm doing listings here. Long story short: This curated and decidedly non-comprehensive list contains nothin' but shows that I am going to/would go to if I had more time.

Gig of the week:

Burn Down The Capital presents (feat. The Ex / New Fries / Eucalyptus / Abebe Fikade) / The Jam Factory 2019-05-17 (Friday – all ages!) [FB event]

A true no-doubter here. Besides a chance to check in with one of the world's most energizing live bands, there's a fab lineup top to bottom here, with the return of the recently-dormant New Fries as well as an appearance by Ex-associate Brodie West leading Eucalyptus through some jams.

Bandcamp corner:

  • A very exciting union of two big talents, The Opening sees Rick White (formerly of Elevator, Eric's Trip, etc.) joining forces with Melissa Boraski, a.k.a. Eiyn Sof. Musically, this hews more toward White's psychedelic chug ("a heavy spacey fairytale vibe"), but the songs were very much conceived with the vocals as a co-operative endeavour.
  • Meanwhile, Jakob Rehlinger temporarily un-retires his BABEL moniker for this (mostly) archival release of layered pieces for bell-sounds.
