Given the economics of making creative music in this country, we don't get a chance to see out-of-town peers to our local scene as much as we should. Sam Shalabi was in T.O. not that long ago at the centre of his big-band Land of Kush ensemble at the Aga Khan Museum, but Norman Adams (cello) and Tim Crofts (piano) — both stalwarts of the Halifax creative music scene — don't make it out this way as often. Together, they're celebrating a just-released trio album. Nicole Rampersuad's solo trumpet (quite possibly with feedback bursts) will welcome them on behalf of the local side.
