Once again, the 416 Festival is filling the Tranzac with four nights that offer an intriguing cross-section of the city's improvised/creative music community. All four nights are worth checking out, but I'll especially highlight the latter two shows. On Friday, the festival's featured guest artist Hans Tammen will deploy his processed micropolyphonic timbres as he conducts/live samples the Rub Out the Word Ensemble. Saturday offers three excellent local units, with c_RL (Allison Cameron, Nicole Rampersaud and Germaine Liu), who recently wowed the crowd at Not The Wind, Not the Flag's release show joined by kamanche master Shahriyar Jamshidi and the Kyle Brenders Big Band.
