Release dates are a slippery thing in this day and age, so I guess it didn't seem strange to wait 'til January to celebrate the album he put out last March, especially accounting for parental leaves and all. Giulietta Masina at the Oscars Crying has the hallmarks of his best work — sonic adventurousness, political commentary, carefully observed character sketches — and was presented first by Wiseman and his backing duo, and then again, with the songs interpreted by a rotating cast of friends.
