No better way to start off this night with post-punk legends The Ex than with the sort of Ethiopian jams that have inspired their whole later-career arc. Rocking some raw Azmari grooves, the only ingredients here are voice, masenqo (single-stringed fiddle) and some touches of percussion — but it rocks like crazy and electrified the crowd, who cheered so heartily Fikade played an extra song after announcing the end of the set.
