Full review to follow. In a rather remarkable display of sustained improvisation, Shipp and his rhythm section played non-stop for a ninety minute set. There were some changes of pace with solos from drummer Whit Dickey and bassist Michael Bisio to give Shipp some respite, but there were no breaks and no safety net. An auspicious inauguration for the Lula's new/old baby grand piano, this was a good night out put on as an offsite collaboration between the Music Gallery and Rough Idea.
