Monday Roundup #9

In the absence of concert listings, my regular Monday dispatches have fallen off. After bringing some life to the blog with the "bumping into" series, I figure I should get back in the groove. I'm guessing that this will be a bit like what used to get shoved into the end of the post when I was doing listings — some bandcamp suggestions, nods to a few livestreams, and sundry community notes (email me if you have anything that needs broadcast in the latter category!).

Livestream nation:

  • Olivia Shortt curates this event for NUMUS Concerts tonight (Monday, March 15th), which "features New York City-based advocate, acclaimed composer and performer Clifton Joey Guidry III as well as projections by Kichwa digital media artist and filmmaker Samay Arcentales Cajas." Pay-what-you-can-afford tickets ($0 - $40) are available here.
  • The Music Galley's online season continues Saturday (March 20th) with a co-presentation with Native Women in the Arts that was also curated by Olivia Shortt. Celebrate the arrival of Spring with a show "featuring performances by Silla and Rise and Nannaam - An Indigenous circumpolar showcase featuring performances by celebrated Inuit and Saami artists."

Video Hits:

  • Here's the full set from Eel Prongs (which is to say (AN) EeL + Bim Prongs) from an online event last week from RESISTOR Electronic and Avant Garde Music:
  • Meanwhile, Laura Gillis' VIVIDNESS project has posted the complete version of her Blooms video album, full of "natural distortions, painting, mind-blinking, breathing, dreams and hallucinations." You can see the whole thing over on vimeo, or check out the first track below:
