Kurt Newman - Medley: Gold Rush/Bill CheathamAyal Senior's Sunday afternoon monthly at The Tranzac has been evolving into a genial live-action variety show, with stand-up comedy and a flurry of musicians playing shorter sets. Amongst other areas on inquiry, Kurt Newman has recently been exploring instrumental folk music — mostly fiddle tunes — arranged for guitar. That involves a cascading fractal rush of notes, framed by repeating patterns but also capable of infinite small variations.
