Sarah Hennies - The Reinvention of Romance [excerpt]A frequent visitor to the city and frequent inspiration for local musicians, percussionist Sarah Hennies returned to town with this recent large scale/small scale work, where she was joined by cellist Nick Storring. "The Reinvention of Romance" is expansive in the durational sense (running about ninety minutes) but minimal in the musical sense, being based around repeated series of small gestures. Hennies explained that the content was inspired by the intimacy of mundane repetition, the title hence hinting not at the dramatic newness of falling in love but rather the constancy of being in love.
