BOAT OF MINE by Doc Pickles
ReplyDeleteGot a boat of mine don't get out all the time unless the river's deep, costs too much to feed and besides the river ain't much to look at Gee. Catfish and leeches I'd say you must be hungry, sometimes I tie it to a tree and just lay on down in it and float in this boat of mine. Oh river of mud river of reeds river of low hanging trees moving slow and it puts me to sleep in my boat with a busted engine as the birds chirp not a peep, waves are slow and the dimples from the current tug at me in this boat of mine. River flow, river of mud and reeds and low hanging trees please take me, please take me. Mostly though the river flows and I don't sweat it 'cos I don't see it, mostly sweat it out in mud and in dust and in air and in earth and in aether pulled apart by currents not from rivers and streams, living under towers and trees. Under trees far from water losing steam and I've forgotten can I even still swim like I used to? I need to sleep I need to dream about the river that's beneath me I need to sleep and to dream of it again. I dream to cut the rope and to just go where the water goes wonder under trestles where the trains above me go drifting under bridges to the Gulf of Mexico and float on to the places where I'll float in this boat of mine.
