Paul-Julien Tanti - unknownI hadn't made it out to a Crosswires since it re-booted itself as a monthly show after last spring's now-premature "final" edition. It's still mostly following the same format, although Duncan "Doc Pickles" MacDonell has now found a way to square his desire to present other bands with his urge to have his own group play — and thus, his Jim Storie Juniors have become a house band of sorts, getting the night started early to anyone daring enough to show up at the listed doors time.
After that came a familiar mix of old hands trying new things and newer bands just looking for a place to prove themselves. This set fell into the former category, with Tanti (formerly one half of The Pauls) claiming this was his first solo set in eight years. With guitar, loop pedal and pocket trumpet he crooned some slightly off-centre pop tunes, perched somewhere between Timber Timbre and a David Lynch soundtrack.
