Friends & Neighbors - UpwardsExcellent work from this Norwegian quartet (Thomas Johansson on trumpet), André Roligheten on tenor sax, Jon Rune Strøm on double bass, and Tollef Østvang on drums) evoking the spirit of Ornette's classic quartet with a questing, energy-filled set. Over four extended pieces they covered a lot of ground, sounding at every turn like they were full of joyful surprise at the terrain they were crossing.
