Full review to follow. Julianna Barwick's touring support came in the form of this Brooklyn duo, delivering Ahmad Bilal's minimalist drone-soul compositions. Though the music was deeply emotional with spiritual undertones, Bilal was a sunny presence on stage in between songs, quite delighted to be making his first musical excursion north of the border. There was a tape for sale at the show and a few tunes posted on his soundcloud — and a fully convincing live set that indicates that Bilal is one to keep an eye on.
