This is why you should go see the bands you love when you have the chance. Sometimes the best leave us too quickly, so news that this vinyl-release double-header is also a farewell for local trio The Beverleys is a total bummer. Every time I saw them brought great songs, a ferocious musical attack and a positive attitude. The silver lining is that these two send-off shows have top-notch lineups and should offer a friendly harbour from which to wave bon voyage.

A couple new tastes from local favourites have found their way online.
- The name "Inflatable Chaise" might not mean anything to you, but this must-grip EP brings us a quartet of "lost" songs from Thom Gill and Ryan Driver. You might have heard these live on stage in the past — or, in the case of "The Pump", you might have seen the documentary on the recent dance craze — but it's a treat to have proper recordings.
- The digital version of this new tape from Brodie West's Eucalyptus comes out not only in time to act as a souvenir of their ongoing residency at Hirut Ethiopian Restaurant (every Saturday night this month!) but also, quite sadly, as a timely tribute to the recently-passed Ethiopian saxophone king Getatchew Mekuria.
