Full review to follow. Pulling together friends and allies from across the musical spectrum, Healing Power's annual winter party didn't need a pre-announced list of performers to fill up the Southern Cross. The day started early, with cool DIY music and crafts on offer at a bazaar, and ended late with a dance party.

I recall a comment thread once where someone dismissed the smoother varieties of jazz because, "there is little to no improvising, certainly none over changes," the riposte to which was, "of course it's over changes. What do you think it's over? A drone?" Well, here's some improvising over a drone, a solo extension of the sort of sonic terrain we've recently heard Fisher exploring with Phil Melanson.
