- I never met DB Hawkes, but as a field recordist/music documenter in Toronto, I understood the magnitude of his presence. After his recent passing, there is a funeral fundraiser taking place. "DB is also renowned for having amassed an Archive of live recordings: Every Caribana, every Afrofest and virtually every Reggae concert that ever took place in Toronto. Now, a precious body of work consisting of 100's of hours of music history, in various media formats, must be secured, transported and safely stored. This task, along with the general gathering of his belongings, clearing out of the apartment and initial funeral costs are issues easily addressed, but we need funds to get it going."
