This Montréal group (nominally a duo of co-frontpersons Nick Lanyon and Kyla Jolene, but appearing live as a quintet) might have been making their Toronto debut with this show, but they had obviously been cultivating a vibrant online presence, as the packed-in, youthful crowd in attendance would attest to. The band's live presentation might have been a little slick (and older heads might have shaken their heads a little ruefully, thinking that The Magic were a decade and half ahead of their time) but there's no arguing with the enthusiasm their yacht rock-hewing jams (worthy, like this one, of a spot on an 80's movie soundtrack) brought out in the crowd.
