While it might seem like repeat of celebrations past (party like it's 2010!) Chris Cummings' return to the Tranzac in celebration of a new album is very much a chance to reflect on his continuous growth and transformation as an artist. Last year's superb I'm Willing covers album showed off Cummings' gifts as an arranger and interpreter — as does the new Anchors & Ampersands, but with a twist, as he is now looking back and bringing new perspectives to some of his older works. As is usually the case with a new Marker Startling album, the show is an opportunity to see him with an expended band and lusher arrangements — and for a no-doubt pop bonus, the excellent Bunny are once more opening the night.
